OriginOil is a joint venture partner in Ennesys, a system integrator focused on algae production to meet the European Union’s environmental regulations. France in particular has mandated that all major buildings achieve a positive energy balance by the year 2020, and be able to treat their own effluents. Ennesys is working with Global 500 clients such as Bouygues Construction to develop waste water algae production as a means to comply with these new green building standards.Learn More
The grand opening in late 2012 of Ennesys’ showcase building in the iconic La Défense complex near Paris featured algae growth systems developed by Ennesys, supported by OriginOil technology. Over two hundred attendees from the European construction industry viewed the operational system during the opening reception (photo gallery). Major media coverage came from Reuters and French national television. In mid-2013, OriginOil installed a prototype EWS Waste unit at the Ennesys demonstration site which can process liquid waste, generating clean, nitrate-rich water to feed algae grown on the building’s roof as an energy source.
In late 2013, OriginOil sold three of its non-core patent applications to Ennesys. The agreement followed a state visit by French President François Hollande in which the leader praised Ennesys as an innovative start-up with a technology ready to propel France toward meeting its ambitious renewable energy and green building goals.
In June 2014, OriginOil announced that E3 Services and Solutions, LLC (E3), an acquirer and integrator of industrial technologies in fuel, food and health sectors, has agreed to license EWS for integration in systems designed to reclaim water from hydraulic fracturing and industrial operations.Learn More
