Demonstrations of OriginOil Harvesting Prove Popular Draw at National Algae Association’s Commercial Test Center
In weekly demonstrations, reliability and simplicity of operation are seen as major assets for new algae producers
Los Angeles and Houston – April 30, 2014 – OriginOil Inc. (OTC/QB: OOIL), developer of Electro Water Separation™ (EWS), the high-speed, chemical-free process to clean up large quantities of water, today announced that weekly demonstrations of OriginOil’s algae harvesting process at Houston’s National Algae Association (NAA) are popular draws for new algae producers now investing in commercial-scale algae production systems.
“Several companies have seen the harvester demo and may be ready to purchase or license OriginOil’s harvester technology within the next 60 days,” said NAA Executive Director Barry Cohen. “New algae producers now purchasing and installing large commercial algae growing tanks liked the demonstration.”
“It’s exciting to see the algae production industry moving ahead, and we’re happy that our harvester is doing a great job, day in and day out,” said Riggs Eckelberry, OriginOil CEO. “Barry Cohen and his entire crew at the NAA are showing new algae producers how to scale up, which is exactly what the industry needs. Thank you!”
Cohen recently reported that “Three algae start-up companies are working on a large off-take contract. Commercial algae production systems are being delivered, and put into production. Students are successfully completing the NAA Online Algae Production Certification Course. And visitors are coming to the NAA Test Center every week to see live algae harvest demonstrations using OriginOil harvesting equipment. It’s a busy time in algae!”
In March, the NAA selected OriginOil’s entry-level algae harvester for its model demonstration site, which features best-of-breed algae production systems in permanent operation.
When the system was first installed, Barry Cohen stated, “Frankly, we were impressed. The OriginOil harvester immediately harvested concentrated biomass without any of the ‘splatter’ and other side effects that other methods can cause. There is no doubt in my mind that this is the best way to harvest algae efficiently, without chemicals and without destroying cells. We plan to spotlight this technology in the months to come as part of the essential toolkit of the commercial algae producer.”
NAA will continue to demonstrate the operation and application of the Model A12 at its site on a weekly basis, by appointment. For more information please contact: email@example.com
