OriginClear Petro

OriginClear™ Petro is powered by OriginOil’s proprietary Electro Water Separation (EWS), a primarily chemical-free technology that uses inline electro-coagulation, electro-oxidation and electro-flotation to remove the bulk of visible contaminants from the waste stream.

In addition to removing up to 99.9% of all free and emulsified oil, and 99.5% of suspended solids from oil & gas wastewater, OriginClear Petro can also remove certain dissolved contaminants that will co-precipitate, and disinfect bacteria.

Previously CLEAN-FRAC™ PRIME, OriginClear Petro systems bundle OriginOil’s core EWS technology with intelligent controls, ‘heavies’ removal on the front end, and a post-polishing system, all in a single product. OriginClear Petro is a turnkey single-skid system that includes an intelligent power supply, a self- cleaning filter for heavy solids removal on the front end, electro-oxidation reactors, and a polishing system on the back end all in a single product.

All systems include a common SCADA control system with touch screen which will allow automatic control of the process as well as remote monitoring and alarms.

OriginOil and its regional partners are making OriginClear Petro available to customers such as: E&P operators, service companies, disposal well operators and water treatment companies.

CLEAN-FRAC PRIME 250 processes up to 250 barrels per day.

OriginClear P250 processes up to 250 barrels per day. 

OriginClear Petro is available in capacities of 250, 1000 and 5000 barrels per day.

All systems are fully automated, and come standard with integrated touchscreen-based control system.

The OriginClear P250, pictured at its testing grounds in Bakersfield, processes up to 250 barrels per day.

The system replicates the performance of the larger systems, but is small enough to be mounted on a trailer for off-site demonstrations and testing.

OriginClear P1000

The OriginClear P1000 (pictured) has seen successful testing in the gas fields of Colorado’s Western Slope, West Texas intermediate oil fields, and the Monterey heavy oil fields of California.

For mobility, The OriginClear P1000 can be skid- or trailer-mounted, and is sized for small to medium-sized E&P operators or oil service companies.

OriginClear P5000

The OriginClear P5000 (prototype pictured), is the largest of our next-generation systems, and can process up to 5,000 barrels per day.

While the OriginClear P5000 is sized for larger applications, its compact design allows integration of multiple modules in a single 40-foot container, achieving in excess of 10,000 bpd per container.

A demonstration system capable of processing up to 250 barrels per day (bpd) is now available for demonstrations in the field in North America.

OriginOil’s solution can be combined with downstream processes that remove other contaminants, to achieve any water quality level needed.

The Solution

OriginClear Petro combines OriginOil’s EWS technology with other necessary downstream technologies to achieve the specific water quality levels you need.

An OriginClear Petro system could be as simple as a standalone system or could include any combination of the downstream processes shown in the following diagram.

As an example, to treat flowback water to a standard acceptable for “new” frac water, OriginClear Petro would be used in conjunction with Ultra Filtration and Nano-Membrane Filtration.

OriginClear Petro is based on successful testing in a wide range of produced and frac flowback waters in the gas fields of western Colorado, West Texas intermediate oil fields and currently in the Monterey heavy oil fields of California.

Each of these waters has been unique, but EWS technology has proven flexible and robust enough to handle these widely varying challenges.

In the Monterey Shale, third party lab results confirmed that OriginClear Petro reduced all measures of non-soluble contamination to very low, or undetectable levels.

Energy Efficiency

EWS, the core technology powering OriginClear Petro, is a continuous, chemical-free, low-energy process.

Exhaustive testing has indicated that Specific Energy Consumption averages 5.1 kWh/kgal of water treated.

Assuming an energy cost of $0.15 per kWh, the energy cost of operating the EWS technology is estimated at $0.03 per barrel of water treated.

OriginClear Petro is designed for operation within a range of influent specifications for pH, temperature, salinity and other factors. During the initial project evaluation process, OriginOil will fully characterize your influent quality.

Based on the site-specific water quality, OriginOil will specify process adaptations to ensure optimum operation, which in turn may affect operating costs. In order to determine the right process train for your application, we recommend you start the specification process right away.
